How Our End-of-Life Support Works

There is no single way to prepare for death, support someone who is dying, or navigate grief.

Our end-of-life doula services are designed to meet individuals and families where they are, offering compassionate companionship, thoughtful conversation, and emotional support without judgment or expectations.

Sessions may take place in person, virtually, or by phone, depending on the type of support requested and the needs of the individual or family.

What Can We Talk About?

Our conversations may focus on:

  • Facing a Diagnosis: Processing difficult emotions, uncertainty, and concerns about the future.

  • Personal Wishes: Exploring what comfort, dignity, meaningful connection, and a peaceful environment mean to you.

  • Family Conversations: Preparing for discussions about values, personal wishes, fears, and emotional needs.

  • Legacy & Remembrance: Reflecting on life stories, creating memory projects, writing letters, or identifying meaningful ways to honor someone's life.

  • Caregiver Support: Providing a listening ear and emotional companionship to family members supporting a loved one.

  • Anticipatory Grief: Exploring the emotions that can arise before an expected death.

  • Pregnancy & Infant Loss: Offering compassionate emotional support and space to honor a pregnancy or baby.

  • Ritual & Reflection: Creating meaningful moments through guided reflection, storytelling, music selections, or other personalized practices aligned with your beliefs.

What Happens During a Session?

1. We Begin With a Conversation

Our first meeting focuses on understanding your situation, your wishes, and what kind of support would feel most meaningful.

2. We Explore What Matters Most

Some people want to talk openly about death. Others want to focus on memories, family, spiritual questions, or simply being present. There is no requirement to discuss anything you're not ready to explore.

3. We Personalize Your Support

Together, we can identify meaningful activities, conversations, resources, or reflection practices that support your emotional needs and personal values.

4. We Continue at Your Pace

Depending on your selected service, support may involve a single conversation, several visits, or companionship during the final stages of life.

What Is Vigil Support?

Vigil support provides a calm, attentive presence during the final stages of life.

This may involve sitting quietly with an individual, offering conversation when appropriate, supporting a peaceful atmosphere, or providing emotional reassurance to family members.

Our approach respects personal boundaries, dignity, cultural traditions, and the wishes of the individual and family.

You do not have to fill every moment with conversation. Sometimes simply having someone present makes a difference.

Our Philosophy

End-of-life support is not about finding perfect words or trying to make a difficult experience painless.

It's about making space for humanity, connection, dignity, and meaningful moments.

We believe every person deserves to be seen as more than their illness, and every family deserves compassion throughout the journey.

End-of-life doula services are nonmedical and do not include physical care, medication administration, medical decision-making, or replacement of hospice and clinical services.
