Birth Doula Support
How Our Birth Doula Support Works
Birth support begins long before labor.
Our goal is to build a relationship where you feel comfortable expressing your hopes, asking questions, and sharing concerns without fear of judgment.
Depending on your selected package, support may include prenatal meetings, birth preparation, continuous labor support, and postpartum follow-up.
Before Birth
During our prenatal conversations, we can explore:
Your hopes, preferences, and concerns about labor and delivery.
The stages of labor and common medical interventions.
Comfort measures, movement, breathing, and relaxation techniques.
Birth preferences, including epidurals, unmedicated labor, inductions, cesareans, or VBAC.
Ways your partner or chosen support person can participate.
Questions to ask your medical providers.
Preparing emotionally for unexpected changes.
Meetings may take place virtually or in person, depending on your package and location.
During Labor & Birth
When labor begins, our focus shifts to providing a steady, reassuring presence.
Support may include encouragement, positioning suggestions, breathing guidance, relaxation techniques, emotional reassurance, and helping you communicate your preferences to your care team.
We also support your partner or family members so they can feel confident participating in your birth experience.
We recognize that birth rarely follows an exact script. Whether your plans remain unchanged or your care needs shift, you deserve to feel included in the decisions being made.
After Birth
A postpartum follow-up offers an opportunity to reflect on your experience, discuss questions, process emotions, and connect with additional resources if needed.
What Makes Our Approach Different?
We don't believe there's only one right way to give birth.
Our role isn't to pressure you toward a particular type of delivery. It's to help you feel informed, respected, and supported through the experience that unfolds.
At Vesper & Loam, your voice matters before, during, and after birth.
The number of prenatal meetings, labor coverage arrangements, and postpartum services will be specified in your selected package and service agreement.
